Pura Ulun Siwi: This is an iconic and spectacular temple with rich history and situated at Jimbaran. The gate of this temple is made from coral stone and not the conventional brick. As one of the temples that is dedicated to rice farming as well as protecting the island from spirits, Pura Ulun Siwi makes for a refreshing travel destination for anyone who would like to enjoy the island’s treasures.
Unique fact about this temple is that it only has two courtyards as opposed to the three that are a characteristic of Balinese Hindu Temples. The inner courtyard is quite spacious, and is home to the large 11-tiered pagoda. Several renovations have been carried out at the temple, yet this magnificent structure still retains its rustic appeal.
Another reasons: the first is that unlike other temples which are southward facing, Pura Ulun Siwi faces to the east. In addition to this, devout locals pray while facing the west as opposed to the north which is the case in traditional Balinese Hindu Temples. The reason for this is that the temple’s beginnings can be traced to its primitive beginnings in the early 11th century. Mpu Kuturan, the founder of Ulun Siwi, and a Javanese local followed his native traditions in building the temple.

Important Note: As with all temples, make sure to dress modestly. Visitors must ensure that they wear a sarong to cover knees and ankles and also make sure that shoulders and midriffs are covered.
